As an interstellar space and time exploration institution, we are looking to build an app that allows individuals to travel through time. Our technologists have found a way to use a mobile device that taps into the universe and makes time travel possible. Design a digital experience for traveling through time.
The client especially wants to see work around how the user decides when/where to travel and the act of traveling.
Platform: IOS or Android.

Game Plan
Due to the time limit and requirement of this design challenge, I was able to complete the plan till the ideation stage.
But it was helpful to demonstrate the full product cycle I had in mind.
Challenge
Since time travel being a completely new experience, the research phase was critical to find how people perceive time travel and how the way they browse and purchase these trips differs from their typical travels.
My Solution
The user interview can only stay theoretical at this point, I researched products that provide similar experiences:
1. Browse and search where and when to travel: Airbnb, Netflix, Trip adviser.
2. Book the trip: Kayak, Google Flight, Airbnb.
This helped me form design decisions on choosing design components and how to create immersive experiences.
Final Concept
Uber Intersteller Time Travel App is a time travel tool that provides a well-planned, transparent, and safe time travel experience.

Market Reseach
In order to get a better understanding of the time travel industry I performed market research. My main objectives were to identify the target market as well as to note any trends, facts or statistics.
Key findings:
1. Time travel market is not limited by age group. Time travel has become more affordable. Any individuals with a bit of financial capabilities are willing to pay for the trip.
2. AI is using customer data to better give trip suggestions, content push notifications.
3. Time travel as a service is new to the consumer market, people are excited but it's a fairly unfamiliar experience to most of the users.
I would also conduct competitor analysis if I had more time for the exercise. This will allow me to determine strengths to focus on and weaknesses to avoid.
User Research
I conducted interviews with potential time travelers and experts that work in the time travel field (theoretical) to figure out the needs and how people perceive time travel experience from a professional perspective.
Expert
Creating a simple, safe and transparent time travel experience is the key of success for this new tech
coming to the consumer market.
Single young adult
"I need some help deciding where to go."
"I like traveling with no plans."
Family with kids
"We would plan out exactly where to go and the duration of the trip."
Senior traveler
"It was hard to distinguish present time and the time I'm traveling to."
"It was hard to distinguish present time and the time I'm traveling to."
"Safety is the number one concern for us, we want to make sure the trip is exactly what we expected"
Pain Points
1. Hard to come up with travel plans for some users.
2. The users don't know if the trip they planned will match their expectations.
3. Hard to distinguish between the present time and the time they traveled to.
User Success Matrix
1. Collect user's interests in music, culture, movie, art, history, etc, then
using an AI algorithm to match with potential time travel experiences.
2. Evaluate the experience by using historical data and guide
the users to book experiences that match their expectations.
3. Build consistent visual language around time and create a
clear difference between different time concepts.
Concept
He didn't know where and when he would like to travel to at the beginning. By entering his basic info such as interests, age, expectation towards the trip he found his favorite trip through AI suggestions.
Kevin downloads the time travel app and he got a push notification asking him if he's interested in a time travel trip for $99-$200.
Scenario 1
User Flow
Scenario 2
Tim is browsing time travel trips with his wife. This is their second time taking a family time travel trip with their 6 yrs old son. They want to make sure the trip is safe and memorable for the family.
Scenario 3
Tim and his family are currently on a time travel trip. To create a sense of trust, Uber Intersteller Time Travel App is guiding them step by step on key locations they need to hit. They will receive push notifications if any action is needed.
Next Step
1. Figure out the site map for the entire app.
2. It's very important to conduct user testings on these key features, A/B
testing, build prototypes if necessary.
3. Scope out core features from user feedback.
4. Refine the product/biz strategy with the team.
e.g. Is it a Saas product.
5. Think deeper about how AI could help with the product experience.
e.g. AI suggested alternative routes to match the user's preferable
experience.
